Madison, Wisconsin: The City of Madison partners with Energy Tech Solutions, LLC to replace the current lighting on the top tier of the Lake Street Parking Ramp in Downtown Madison. A total of twelve 100W LED Street Lamps were installed dual- mounted on 6 existing poles.

Selecting an LED replacement with adjustable wings allowed the City to not only generate energy savings in excess of 50% over traditional HPS lighting but to solve some issues with uneven lighting, light pollution, high maintenance efforts and costs and most importantly, safety issues.

"It was the parking utility's main purpose to improve safety.. mission accomplished. Large energy savings are a side effect here."  According to Kay Schindal of the City of Madison.

Dan Borski from Energy Tech Solutions went to the extent of finding an adjustable knuckle that was compatible with both their existing poles and the LED fixtures to provide consistent lighting throughout. 

The adjustable wings were beneficial as well in creating a uniform light output and in directing the light beam away from the surrounding apartment buildings that were being affected by the light overflow from the original lamps.  This product is dark sky compliant and has assisted in minimizing complaints from neighbor residents. 

Also, this product has an extended life exceeding 100,000 hours with constant lumen output resulting in less maintenance and costs related to changing out the lamps.

Even though energy savings and maintenance costs were not the top priorities for this particular project, those were bonus benefits that will have a positive impact on the City's bottom line.
